Web-based Virtual Microscopy
Virtual microscopy is a method of digitizing microscope specimens,
and viewing the produced virtual slides on a computer screen.
Demo
WebMicroscope serves as a platform for a wide range of applications
and activities, including slide seminars, Quality Assurance projects,
interactive educational material, research applications (Tissue Micro
Array analysis), publication supplements and clinical services.
WebMicroscope can also be installed locally at campuses, automatically
joining the European Virtual Microscopy Network.

The slide seminars of the ECP 2011 in Helsinki can be
found at
http://ecp23.webmicroscope.net. Case histories, slides and
snapshots submitted by 130 pathologists can be viewed
before the congress, while diagnoses and handouts will be
available after the congress.
● WebMicroscope is hosting the
seminar slides of the
30th Anniversary Congress of the Nordic Society of Nephrology.
● Article describing the European
Network for Virtual Microscopy published in the
Virchows Archiv journal.
● Article on Web-Based Virtual Microscopy for Parasitology
published in the
PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases journal. Described specimens
and demos can be found in the
parasitology section.
● A novel tool to observe parasites by virtual microscopy on the web has been developed. A satellite symposium
is arranged at the 10th European Multicolloquium of Parasitology
