IDC after preoperative radiation therapy

The tumor presents with stromal fibrosis and hyalinisation. Carcinoma cells show marked atypia, hyperchromasia and vacuolisation.

IDC after preoperative cytotoxic chemotherapy

Antitumor response to cytotoxic drugs is histologically similar to that seen after radiation therapy. In some cases no identifiable carcinoma cells can be found in the resected breast after preoperative chemotherapy (complete pathological response).
