Carcinosarcoma consists of infiltrating carcinoma (usually grade II-III) merged with a highly cellular, mitotically active pleomorphic spindle cell stroma (sarcoma). The sarcoma component resembles histologically malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) or fibrosarcoma. This tumor is probably derived from myoepithelial cells. Carcinosarcoma is a very aggressive tumor form with a very poor prognosis.
