Microinvasive carcinoma is defined as a intraductal malignant tumor showing invasive growth in an area less than 1 mm in diameter. Immunostains with myoepithelial markers (smooth muscle actin, calponin) may be helpful to identify invasive foci, which, by definition, lack the myoepithelial cell layer. |
