Phyllodes tumor

up one level

Phyllodes tumor is a rare biphasic tumor composed of benign epithelium and a spindle cell stroma. The epithelial component is similar to that in fibroadenoma.

Biologic behavior of PT cannot be predicted with certainty on the basis of morphologic criteria. Features suggesting malignant behavior include high cellularity, cellular atypia, high mitotic count, and large tumor size. Due to the ambiguity of morphological criteria, three classes (benign, borderline, malignant) have been adopted.
Benign
Malignant
