IDC represents ~70% of all invasive
carcinomas of the breast. Carcinoma
cells invade in the tumor stroma, form a variable pattern of glandular
structures,
or grow as solid sheets or nests. Epithelial cells are morphologically
atypical,
which form the basis of differentiating carcinoma from radial scar and
sclerosing
adenosis. The tumor is classified as IDC when features of special
histologic
subtypes are not present, or present in a minority of the tumor.
