Web-based Virtual Microscopy

Virtual microscopy is a method of digitizing microscope specimens,
and viewing the produced virtual slides on a computer screen.

WebMicroscope serves as a platform for a wide range of applications
and activities, including slide seminars, Quality Assurance projects,
interactive educational material, research applications (Tissue Micro
Array analysis), publication supplements and clinical services.

WebMicroscope can also be installed locally at campuses, automatically
joining the European Virtual Microscopy Network.

August 20^th: The slide seminars of the ECP 2009 in Florence can be found at http://ecp22.webmicroscope.net.
Case histories, slides and snapshots submitted by 130 pathologists can be viewed before the congress, while diagnoses and handouts will be available after the congress.

August 18^th: WebMicroscope is hosting the seminar slides of the 30th Anniversary Congress of the Nordic Society of Nephrology.

April 2^nd: Article describing the European Network for Virtual Microscopy published in the Virchows Archiv journal.

October 22^nd: Article on Web-Based Virtual Microscopy for Parasitology published in the PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases journal. Described specimens and demos can be found in the parasitology section.

August 14^th: A novel tool to observe parasites by virtual microscopy on the web has been developed. A satellite symposium is arranged at the 10^th European Multicolloquium of Parasitology (www.emop10.eu) in Paris. (View poster)

April 15^th: The viewing system has been updated. A plugin-free, cross-platform compatible slide viewer is being deployed, test it at this seminar page.
