Virtual Microscopy for Parasitology
The aim of this project is to adapt virtual microscopy for parasitology specimens. The project was motivated by difficulties in education and quality assurance in an ongoing SIDA/Sarec sponsored co-operative effort on control of intestinal parasites in Nicaragua.
Such difficulties are however not restricted to developing countries. Quality assurance, e.g. for stool samples, is problematic basically because identical specimens cannot be distributed to participating parasitology laboratories.

Virtual microscopy addresses major problems, such as specimen handling, availability, reproducibility, distribution and interpretation.
