Case 9
Presented by: Dr. A. Franchi
Clinical History A 56-year-old female presenting with a rapidly growing lesion of the left parotid gland, with facial nerve palsy. The patient underwent a left parotidectomy, upon gross examination the lesion measured 4,5x3,5x3cm, had ill defined margins with extra-glandular extension and showed areas of necrosis. After the histological diagnosis, the patient was further thoroughly examined but no other lesion was found in the head and neck region . Eight years later two nodules were detected in the right lung by CT scans. They were surgically removed and the histological features were similar to those seen in the parotid gland.
