Case 2
Case 2
94 F. Routine autopsy sample from bone marrow.

  Miliary tuberculosis
Discussion: Granulomas were seen in the autopsy samples of lungs, liver, kidney and bone marrow. Ziehl-Neelsen staining was positive in lung tissue. Culture result of M. tuberculosis was positive (+++). Recently, the patient was given up to 40 mg prednisolon per day for weeks due to symptoms thought to be caused by polymyalgia rheumatica (this diagnosis was made allready in the nineties). The diagnosis of tbc was a surprise for both the pathologist and the clinicians. Should a pathologist always use special surgical mask during autopsy to avoid tbc infection?
